GPS Tracking for Trucks in Peru

Route deviationFuel costs are out of control
Without GPS data, you can't tell if drivers are taking efficient routes or burning fuel on personal errands. Fuel theft goes undetected.

Frequently asked questions
What GPS device do you install on trucks?
We install Teltonika FMC130 and similar commercial-grade GPS terminals. These are hardwired to the truck's electrical system with a backup battery, installed covertly by our certified technicians. The devices support 4G connectivity across all Peruvian carriers.
Is GPS tracking mandatory for cargo trucks in Peru?
Yes. Since July 2017, all cargo and merchandise transport vehicles must retransmit GPS signals to SUTRAN's monitoring center under the RENAT regulation. Non-compliance carries fines of up to 65 UIT. Ditrack handles retransmission automatically.
How does GPS tracking reduce fuel costs for truck fleets?
GPS data reveals unauthorized detours, excessive idling, and inefficient routes. Fleet managers typically see 10-15% fuel savings within the first three months by optimizing routes and eliminating unauthorized vehicle use.
Can I track trucks in remote areas of Peru?
Yes. Our GPS terminals use multi-carrier 4G/5G connectivity (Claro, Movistar, Entel, Bitel) with internal storage that buffers location data when out of coverage. Once signal returns, all stored positions are transmitted automatically.
How quickly can you install GPS on my truck fleet?
We install in Lima within 48 hours of confirmation. Each truck takes about 1 hour. For fleets outside Lima, we coordinate with certified technicians nationwide. Installation is included in the plan price.
Can Ditrack integrate fuel sensors on my trucks?
Yes. We install capacitive fuel level sensors that connect directly to the GPS terminal. You get real-time fuel readings, consumption reports, and instant alerts for sudden drops that indicate theft or leaks.
Does GPS tracking work on highways between Lima and provinces?
Absolutely. Our terminals use multi-carrier 4G/5G across Claro, Movistar, Entel, and Bitel. In the rare stretches without coverage, the device stores all location data internally and transmits it automatically when signal returns.
What's the difference between GPS tracking and AVL for trucks?
GPS tracking shows location. AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) adds telemetry: speed, engine status, sensor data, and event-based reporting. Ditrack provides full AVL, not just basic GPS coordinates.
Do you install GPS on semi-trucks and trailers?
Yes. We install on both the tractor unit and the trailer separately. This lets you track each asset independently, which is critical for companies that swap trailers between tractors or use third-party haulers.
How does real-time SUTRAN retransmission work with Ditrack?
Our GPS terminals send position data to Ditrack's servers, which retransmit directly to SUTRAN's Centro de Gestion y Monitoreo in real time. There are no manual uploads, no intermediaries, and no gaps. You can verify retransmission status on the Ditrack dashboard at any time.
